Sought After Militaria & Maritime Miniature

Amongst a number of significant and sought after military medals and militaria featuring at SARs this weekend it was maritime services that topped the bill with this rare and unusual gun muzzle tompion selling for £2,000, well over the £300-£500 estimate and this fabulous portrait miniature of Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Seton who was lost during the sinking of HMS Birkenhead, but not before he saved numerous lives by ensuring the women and children evacuated the ship first and thereby starting the protocol for all future such disasters. The very attractive miniature of this maritime hero sold for £2,100, soaring over its pre-sale estimate of £300-£400.
