Every Dog has its Day!

In a stunning sale on the 14th April 2023 at Stamford Auction Rooms, featuring a private collection of Ian Flemming, and related gentleman's ephemera there were some fabulous pieces of Fine Art to be had, including this stunning James Hardy Jnr painting, entitled  End of the Day', depicting two English Setters in front of a game bag, which sold for £4,800, well over the £700-£1,000 estimate.  It will be sorely missed in the dog loving auction house when the new owner comes to collect as it has been featured in their office display since it came in.  Dog paintings continue to do well across the board, and the other example in the sale, a much more modest study of a Jack Russell, by A. M. Phillips also sold over its £50-£80 estimate at £90.
