We hold dedicated auctions that includes Chinese and Japanese ceramics, works of art, textiles and furniture, which are timed to capitalise on the current strength in the Asian market.
Our most notable auction of Asian art was The Jocelyn Chatterton Collection’, a vast private collection of specialist Chinese and Japanese textiles and works of art from the 18th century onwards. Dr Jocelyn Chatterton, the collector, and the author of Chinese Silks and Sewing Tools had spent a a lifetime collecting these rare pieces which are seldom seen on the market. Included were Chinese silk applique spectacle cases, children’s tiger heads made to confuse evil spirits and protect the wearers, marriage boxes, signifiers, eating sets, silk paintings and many more incredible pieces.
To mark such an important auction we arranged a special prosecco and canape open evening with a talk by Dr Chatterton herself which had huge attendance and was a great success.
Items of interest for inclusion in these sales include Chinese and Japanese ceramics, furniture, ivories, silver, jade, cloisonné and bronzes, so if you have anything you would like us to sell for you, why not contact us for a free valuation!
